Owensboro Amateur Radio Club meeting for March is next week!!!
We will be meeting on Tuesday 3/19 at the Owensboro Technical and Community College (OTCC) Downtown Campus at 1501 Frederica Street in rooms 18A & B. The club meeting will start at the normal time, 7PM, with the ARES meeting at 6:30pm. Best parking is in the back of the OTCC building, accessible from West 15th Street or Daviess Street (across from Steinkamp lumber yard).

FREE ON-LINE AMATEUR RADIO OPERATING CLASS

A free, weekly, 3-hour Amateur Radio Operating Class on Zoom will begin on Thursday April 4 and run through June 20 at 6:30 PM Eastern time. The presenters will be various experienced folks in the various subjects.

• Amateur Radio Organizations—Local to International
• Ham Radio Awards
• DXing-History and Tips from the Experts
• QSLing-How to get that needed card for DXCC or WAS
• VHF/UHF Weak Signal Work and “Roving”
• Image Operating—Slow Scan and Fast Scan TV
• Remote Station control over internet
• Learning CW in the no-code era
• Digital Modes—From RTTY to FT8 and beyond
• Contesting—How to get started, tips for the beginner and intermediated contester
• Logging Software—What’s available, how to use
• Propagation—A general intro to HF Propagation
• Amateur Satellites—How to get started
• Portable (backpacking) operation—Tips from an expert
• Setting Up a Modern (or not so modern) HF Station
• Lightning Protection and Grounding
• Traffic Handling
• Public Service, Emergency Communications

The next Owensboro Amateur Radio Club will be held at Legion Park East Shelter on Tuesday 9/19 at 6. The format will be the same as in past club picnics (club supplies everything except side dishes and drinks). We will have a short meeting before eating with special guest speaker Michael Kalter W8CI — a candidate for Director, Great Lakes Division. All are welcome!

The new location worked out extremely well for the last meeting. It has lots of room and other features that will accommodate our growing club well.
